Hey All,
the pontoon I bought last summer came with a suzuki dt 40, and I made a post asking about them. the few times I got to take the boat out last summer I did enjoy it, so for all who said it would be a good one, thanks and you were right. However......

I've changed the plugs, and getting it ready to try to go do some fishing. Got it fired up and was letting it sit and idle here in the yard. There is a good stream of water coming out of it, but I'm getting a warning buzzer after it runs for a while. I can shut it down, let it sit for a while, start it back up again and after 6-8 minutes it starts buzzing again.

I did change the water pump impeller last summer, and only got to put it in the water afterwards 4 or 5 times. Between last summer being so rainy, and some sickness in the family, just didn't get to go much.

the oil tank is almost full, so don't think it's a low oil warning.

Suggestions please? and thanks in advance

Re: DT 40 warning buzzer

need to find out if it is a water or a fuel alarm.

I think some DT suzuki's have a water level switch in the block so if it does not fill all the way will alarm.

Also there is an oil flow switch that alarms if it does not see oil flow to the cylinders

Service manual for your motor will help you a lot in trouble shooting the alarm

Suzuki's don't like the ear muffs very much, best is to test it on the water, or to inspect your thermostat ....

Re: DT 40 warning buzzer

thanks guy's. Sorry I'm just now responding to this, my computer has been down. I do plan on putting it in the water today as it is going to be beautiful the next couple of days. I've run it before on the muffs here in the yard and not had that happen, but I do remember the first time I put it in the water last year after I bought it, (June) it hadn't been in the water yet and it gave me an alarm, after turning it off and back on a couple of times, it didn't do it any more. I'm thinking maybe the thermostat is sticking. maybe time to change it out

Re: DT 40 warning buzzer

put it in the water today, no more warning buzzer issues! wouldn't run over half throttle though, checking the gas tank had some crud in it, and some in the lines as well. Taking the carb down for rebuild, will put a new filter in and blow all the lines out and she should be good as new. Thanks for the help
