Hi Folks,
My friend got a DT55 last year. I believe it's a 1990 model. It ran great last year and he had a handy man winterize it last fall. This year it's a different story. It has fresh gas and fresh oil in the oil tank. the problem is that it fouls the plugs in about 10 minutes.Three sets of plugs so far. I'm hesitant to do anything to this engine as he hasn't received the manual for it yet.
Anybody have any suggestions ?
Thanks. Jerome

Has he checked the carbs? Is is all three plugs? If the floats stick, raw fuel will flood the engine and cause the plugs to fail.

Re: DT 55 foul plugs

Aparently the winterization went as follows
1 start motor on muffs
2 look at motor
3 spray everything with a large can of WD40 till MT.
4 turn off motor replace cover and pronounce complete.
5 ask for 150.00 USC.
6 leave happy

This is really how it went.
I'll be pulling the carbs apart and cleaning. Do you guys recommend acetone for carb cleaning or do you prefer the spray cans ?
