I have a DT 75 from -83 with a very bad lower unit (gears/dog clutch are worn out).
Today I found a DT 75 with a broken piston, but a fresh lower unit from -88 or -89.
The seller will hold the motor just a couple of hours for me!

Is it possible to just swap to the newer fresh lower unit?
Are the different models lower units compatible with each other?

Are you sure about the years of each motor?

Yes, I have checked the motor numbering.

Anyway I bought the -88 DT75 so it's to late to take up a discussion now :)

The boat season here in Sweden is soon over so I think I will try to rebuild the -88 as it looks quite good and have been runing in fresh water for 20 years.
As I can see one cylnder is scored and three of the heads bolts are broken and prortude about 1/4" out from the powerhead.
Are there any experts here that can guide me with my rebuild project?
Maby I should start a new thread with this project???

First issue is how to get the three bolts out of the powerhead.
Any ideas how to remove the bolts?

The battery in my camera just died so I can't load up any photos right now, can do it tomorrow!
