DT 75. No neutral

My fathers boat motor. Has slowly lost neutral of all things, I don't understand how to adjust the cables. For no neutral, It goes into forward and reverse perfect Any ideas

you disconnect the cable at the motor,
put the controls in neutral,
put the motor in neutral,
then adjust the cable so it slips on easily.

if you cannot get the motor into neutral without cables attached then there is a problem in the lower unit or linkages on the motor

I feel like such a dumba-s for not trying it with the cable diconected I will wed.
