The power head on my motor sized, i got a used one on fleabay. I followed the instructions in the manual removed all the parts on the outside of the motor and the bolts attaching it to the lower end the 4 on each side and the two at the back. Hooked a block and tacle to the eye on top of the motor but the moter will not come off. The boat and trailer is hanging in the air. What do i miss. Read some where to use a pry bar but i am not sure if this will damage the drive shaft going in the lower end. Any ideas on how to get this motor off please i am at my wits end.

Strongly suggest attempting to drop the lower unit first, the splines of the driveshaft/crankshaft could be rusted together, especially if it's a saltwater motor. You didn't say how it seized but it would be a good time to replace the water pump impeller anyway.

Thank you sir , it turned out to be one of the power head bolts that broke off when we took them out. We we manage to lift the head off the mounting about a 1/4 inch but it would not move any more than that. As a last resort we cut that bolt stub with a saws all and the head jumped right off. What a relief. I hope the rest of the job will go without a problem.
