Tach pegs at 7,000 rpm then will float back to something reasonable, then peg again intermittently? No real link to in gear or out out of gear etc.
1998-1999 year model, hardly used, in great shape
Any ideas?
Thanks

Sorry we didn't see your post to offer advice. If the rectifier doesn't fix the tach, CDI has a troubleshooting guide.

Thank you!
This the OEM Suzuki tach, not sure settings apply? The speedo is about 10MPH off as well, and the fuel gage jumps a bit too so that led me to start replacing parts.
The pic I attached was of me checking the “gear counter coil”, I set it at .5mm per factory service manual but motor ran like crap, hard to start, etc.
So I set it back. Motor runs terrific now, but tach reads fine sometimes and most times just pegs at 7K?
Previous owner had downriggers wired in which I have since disconnected. I’m thinking this might be part of the problem?
If rectifier doesn’t fix it, guess I’ll replace tach next?

I received my replacement rectifier/regulator
Well, boys and girls, everything is working tits now!
Tach is good, fuel gauge is good, hope in the future somebody will see this and it will help them out
Time to get this Suzuki 140 out and let her run...
I'm going fishing!
