I recently had to take the lower unit off of my Suzuki 25 HP and I can't seem to figure out how to put the shift shaft back in without removing the powerhead. Does anyone know any tricks?
If you didn't take the shift shaft apart at the turnbuckle it means you broke it out of the plastic bellcrank up under the carbs. You have to remove the carbs to repair and replace it. This might be a classic case of our old saying....DIYCMM...Doing It Yourself Costs More Money. Seriously.. its not real hard or expensive..just aggravating. You don't have to remove the powerhead.
Thanks. The eye that the shaft isn't broke. I can see it and it looks okay. I didn't know I had to take it apart from the turnbuckle and it came out easily, so I hope nothing is broken. Thanks
you might want to invest in a clymer suzuki outboard shop manual I looked in mine and it showed that little disconnect step, with pictures
could save a costly error in the future
****
