Last year as I was taking boat to ramp to take it out of the water for the year, suddenly stopped pumping water. I raised motor and let it cool, put it back down and it immediately cooled off and ran fine. Figured intake was clogged from low water in cove where our dock is.
This spring cranked it on muffs and had no water out of **** tube. So I called my mechanic and asked him to order a water pump and t-stat. 6 weeks later I decided to do it myself.
I figured out how to get the shift rod hooked fairly easily (fortunately since I have had the lower unit back off 5 or 6 times).
But I continue to get cold water out of the hole where shift rod comes through back of the leg, and hot water from a crack at the rear above the cavitation plate.
I ordered and installed a new water tube and it still does the same thing. I put grease in the outlet of the water pump housing and it seems like the tube is going in the hole, but maybe not seating all the way. Bottom grommet is seated in the notch where it is supposed to be.
To make matters worse, I found out the pee tube was clogged in the block, now I get water out of that fine, not as strong as on my Mariner, but I hope it gets stronger once it is in the water.
Any help would be appreciated, since my wife just spent $1500 replacing seats and console, and now wants the boat on the water.
