Dual battery on Minn kota? Bad idea?

I've got a min kota 44 pound trolling motor i use on a portabote to cruise around on lakes while camping. I'd love to squeeze a little more power out of it.

If I ran two batteries in series that would do it, but I'm guessing the motor may not last real long? Anyone ever try it? Bad idea?

You would want to instead run the batteries in parallel to keep the voltage the same.

Are you trying to get more longevity or more speed. For more longevity, like Bruce said put the batteries in parallel. For more speed, putting two in series is a bad idea for a 12v TM.

Ever wonder why a light bulb burns out when twice as much voltage is applied to it? If it was OK to do so the motor would have been labeled 12/24 volt operation.

Thanks, just curious. i know not all electric motors are created equal and many are capable of a lot more then their designed use.
