New to the Forum.... I have a mercruiser bravo 3 I/O dual props. I want to take them off to grease the inside. How do I go about doing this? I tried to turn the nut off with a socket but couldn't hold the props by myself and turn it. When I do get them off what is the best grease to use. White Lithium Grease?
Thanks

Re: Dual Propellers

Cut a piece of 2x4 about 6 inches long. Place it between prop blade and ventilation plate in proper direction to prevent prop from turning when you're loosening the nut. Put it on the other side to hold the prop when you tighten the nut. You will need a BIG socket to take off the second prop. Or one of these wrenches:

As far as shaft lube, from the Mercury website:

We recommend a liberal coat of one of the following Mercury Precision or Quicksilver Marine Lubricants on the propeller shaft: Special Lubricant 101, 2-4-C Marine Lubricant with Teflon, or Anti-Corrosion Grease. These lubricants are available from any authorized Mercury Marine dealer.

Water-proof wheel bearing grease works well. Or as Bond-O would say, ANY GREASE IS BETTER THAN NO GREASE!
