I have an aq120b engine that idles rough. Nothing seems to work to help the problem. New carb kit, adjust the float. Chevron 94 octane gas, It never dies on me, but always sounds like it wants to. I have lots of power and rev over 5000 rpm with no problem. Its just the rough idle that is driving me nuts.

I have aquired a manifold with 2 carbs off a 140 engine. Is it worth changing it out? Will it help.

You need to get a Volvo service manual and Be sure that the carburetor is assembled correctly.
There is supposed to be a plate under the carburetor with a tab that protrudes into the air stream which helps atomize the idle mixture, if that plate is missing that could be your problem
By adding the twin carburetor manifold it will raise the HP to 140. If you do that be sure that the throttle blades are synchronized otherwise it will really run bad at low rpms.
Are you sure that the timing, points and timing belt are correct?
I never ran into a situation where the carburetors had to be moved but maybe that came out after I closed my shop.

It's a side draft carburetor. There is no plate between the carb and intake manifold.
New timing belt and all the dots line up perfectly. New wires, new plugs, new pertronix ignition. Took the distributor apart and all the springs and weights are clean and working well.
Both carbs on the spare manifold with 2 carbs are both side draft carbs as well.
