I have a 91 ranger bass boat. The paint is real dull and chalky looking. I have been told that I messed the top side up when I had it clearcoated. Can any one tell me how to go about restoring the shiny new finish to this boat?

Re: dull paint

Go to your local autoparts store (or K-mart or Walmart) and buy a bit of either polishing (if only lightly faded/chalky) or rubbing compound (if it's BADLY faded/chalky).

Then start "rubbing out" the dull areas, as directed on the instructions. I fyou have experience with buffers, this can be done using a buffer... If not, use this as your excuse to excercise, and rub away by hand.

When you've finished "rubbing it out"... Apply a couple coats of highquality wax, to preserve your work, and re-apply it 3-6 times a year, or as required to keep the shine looking good...

Good Luck, Obiwan Jeeper
