can you put a automotive steering wheel on a ski boat?

If you can find one that fits the helm certainly -- But the chances of that happening are slim. If you use one of the aftermarket wheels that screws to a separate hub, AND the wheel on the boat is set up that way, that would work. But again, you might have to drill and tap some more holes to make things line up.

Auto steering wheels are splined and boat steering wheels are tapered with a keyway.

Boats are tapered 3/4 " , with a keyway, like Willy said (notice the shifty eyes in his avator)
