Yesterday a manager at the OSU student union noticed that a 42 inch flat screen TV was missing from a conference room. He is not one that gets excited easily so he checked to see if it had bee moved to another room without authorization. While he was checking, a parking cop called him and asked if he was missing a big TV. He said yes and the cop replied that he thought so.
The cop had noticed a pickup truck parked illegally in front of a dormatory with the TV and a dozen lap top computors in the bed. Thinking that no one in their right mind would leave the electronics unsecured, the cop looked at the TV and inscribed on the bottom in the front just below the screen were the words "Stolen from Oklahonma State University Student Union". The inscription had been put on all of the electronics bought by the SU by the previous director.
The cop told the manager to send down someone to pick it up. In the meanwhile he just waited for the thief to walk out and get into the truck. The bad guy couldn't figure out how he was caught.
Can someone say "Peter Principle" for this thief?
