I have a dura tank that came with my Johnson 40 2 stk. and it leaks around the fuel gage area, I tried a permatex sealer but it seems to leak in that same area . i'm pretty sure it's a seal(gasket) have it apart now and there is a bad area in the rubber gasket ....yup same place where it's leaking. trying to find a link so I can possibly replace the whole fuel gage assembly but not having any luck. anyone know of any web site I can go to?.....thanks glenn

If it's just a round rubber gasket, just get a piece of rubber and make a new one. You also may be able to match it up at the hdwr store.

Good luck!

Visit a tire store and they might have a trashed inner tube laying around and make a gasket. The most difficult thing is that nothing will really stick to plastic as a sealant

Roofing rubber works too. Ya can get a chunk from the local lumber yard, rather cheaply too.

Try a BRP dealer and ask for part #127093

You can also go to shop.evinrude.com, look up your motor and go from there.

found a rubber pc. at lowes in the plumbing dept. might have to do some trimming but it might work, we'll see when I get it running if it leaks. and this is the final product.

well this is the final product , gonna put it together and wait and find out in a few months if she's not gonna leak. thanks for the info.

Rubber at home depot will probably not like gasoline...swell up and fail. I'd go to the auto parts store and buy a small sheet of fuel proof gasket material then make one like you did with the rubber.

Why don't you just get the correct one as that is alcohol resistant ??

picked up this roll of rubber fiber it's from fel-pro gasket. (part # 3157) it 's good for timing covers, fuel pumps, diff. covers. of they had cork I could of tried. was cork used on the metel tanks and rubber used on plastic tanks?

Cork used to be used and then they went to rubber.
