I was considering laying gelcoat down for my deck but I think I have decided to try durabak. My boat now only has 3/4in ply down without fiberglass. I plan to purchase new ply, remove the old deck and use it as a template. After cutting/drying I planned to encapsulate the ply with Durabak then reinstall and add snap in carpet.I would also leave my fishing decks front and rear carpeted(for now) I have a 1988 winner fish/ski.. everything below the ply is gelcoated and solid(stringers) and removing/installing the deck is a snap(2 pieces of ply)..
Would this be a decent replacement for fiberglass?
How would I make the 2 pieces attach seamlessly?
Can anyone who has tried Duraback give me any info as to comfort, durability, and anything else they have to offer?
Here are a few links one to Durabak and one to a member who used it in his boat.(looks good)
