This morning, I noticed that the dust cap had come off one of the hubs on my tandem axle trailer. By the looks of the grease, it appears it came off before or during the recovery of my boat at the ramp last evening. I think I know the answer to the question, but do I have to completely reservice the bearings or will a shot of grease in the hub suffice?

Looks like it was full of water before the cap came off. Anyway, you need to take the bearings off and clean and check them, and repack them if they are still good. You probably need a new inner seal too.

THere is no need to pull the hub with an EZ lube spindle. Jack up the wheel and pump the grease in while turining the wheel. Pump unitl fresh grease appears and you're good to go.

+1. That's what I love about the EZ Lube setup.
