I was out on Lake pleasant the other night going after stripers. I had checked the weather 6 hour forecast and it showed clear skies. We got to the spot that I had picked out on the charts thru out the sea anchor and all of sudden the wind picks up. It was already dark with no moon out but it suddenly got blacker and windier than I could have imagined. We were in the middle of a Arizona Dust storm. Using the Xog gps we headed back to the launch. All of a sudden, threw the dark I see what looks like car lights. That would mean we were heading toward the North shore and that would mean lots of rocks. I looked at the GPS and the depth finder which confirmed we were still in the channel. Getting closer I realized we are trailing another boat in but what is it with the lights? At the dark ramp there is a fool that considers the small public ramp his private dock. A large dark boat that was tied up to the small dark dock when we left. There are a few other boats trying to get out of the windy dark. We tie up and I go to get the car but I am hearing voices. That I can?t figure out. I check and they don?t seem to be coming from the dark boat. As I come back to the boat and look down, I see a woman with two kids swimming in the water. She says ?don?t start your engine cause I don?t know where two of my kids are?. As she is telling me this I see a little girl and boy at the stern of my boat. She said they have been under the dock because of all the boats. I push off and get well clear before starting my engine. The fool with flood lights, two in the bow and two in the stern is trying to trailer his boat when the wind blows him off. He backs up for another try and crashes into another boat coming in. His lights are smashed and I am feeling good about that. He has no proper running lights. We get out and drive off. I wont get any fish until the next week end. Then today I hear about a guy backing into two swimmers and killing them at Lake Havasu.
It's bad enough when people do it doing it during the day, but at night, with lots of boats heading in due to bad weather... :facepalm:
