We was thinking of joining one of those clubs that have special deals on DVD's.

Just thought I would ask to see if anyone belongs to any and their thoughts. Thanks

Re: DVD Clubs

Like NetFlix? DVD rental by mail?

My nephews tried it when they first started up, but didn't watch enough movies to make it worth while.

A friend of mine got a couple months worth of membership for a wedding gift.
They use it all the time and love it.

http://www.netflix.com/Default

Re: DVD Clubs

I had Netflix once before. The DVD's spent too much time in route back and forth.

I was thinking in the lines of Columbia House or BMG type business. The wife and I like watching movies late at night on the boat. Buying two new movies each weekend gets expensive after awhile.

I didn't know if there was any clubs out there for that. Thanks.

Re: DVD Clubs

the columbia house and bmg are a rip off in the long run. you pay about 2-3 times more for shipping but then again you do on ebay too

Re: DVD Clubs

SS MAYFLOAT,
We have a Columbia House membership and I don't think it is a rip off at all. Granted, we do not buy very many movies from them, but if you are a smart shopper, they can be effective. We buy a lot of our movies the day they are released. Target or Wally World usually puts them on sale for the same or less than the clubs.

Do you have a local Blockbuster? They are now doing a deal like Netflix, but no shipping. Not sure on the price, but you can go back as often as you want and get new movies. My wife just signed us up for that since we tend to watch a lot more movies in the fall and winter (not much boating going on :( )
