Dwell/Tach meter ?

I have a Volvo AQ171a and I cannot find anything that tells me the dwell angle. This engine has a Renix system and from what I am understanding is that it does not have points so no dwell. I was also wondering where to clamp the pos and neg cables on the dwell/tach meter so I can use it as a tachometer? I think the tach on my boat is bad and I would like another source for the tach to be sure. Thanks for any help.

according to the manual, the tach is a grey wire, and is plugged into the coil. No dwell to adjust.
