E-tec electrical questions

I am 99% decided on a new e-tec. I have a question about the tach and tilt/trim gauge. Are there benefits to going "factory" on these, i.e. do you get features in the tach that you wouldn't get in a normal tach? How about the tilt/trim gauge? I would like to purchase a Teleflex tilt/trim gauge that matches my battery & fuel level gauge but not if it won't work with the e-tec.

Thanks,

Re: E-tec electrical questions

If you can see your motor, why waste your money on a TT gauge? I'm using a FloScan fuel management system on my E-Tecs, so I can't really comment on the tach issue, since the FloScan provides digital tach. Why not use a water pressure gauge instead of TT?

For warranty purposes you need a 4-light tachometer or SystemCheck gauge with your E-TEC as a warning system. Both the factory and some aftermarket companies make these gauges. Your best bet is a factory one as that will be the easiest all around if there ever is a warranty problem. The trim gauge really is a non-issue, use whatever one is rated for Johnson-Evinrude motors.
