Simplicity.

Throttle response at all RPM.

Very reliable and respected.

Re: E-Tec Motors

Get the 25 Evinrude E-TEC as it is a great motor and outperforms all the 4-strokes available today and is just as quiet, and even quieter than some at cruising and at full throttle. It's the only one built in the USA if that is important to you. Visit etecownersgroup.com for good information by real owners, not wannabe's or naysayers, who will give you real world information about them.

The E-TEC 15HO is designed as a trolling motor for larger boats, has power trim and heavy duty stern brackets. You are paying for features that are not needed if you don't use it for a kicker and its heavier.

Re: E-Tec Motors

I've always had Yamaha Outboard Motors and had great service from all of them, but if I was looking to repower at this time, the E-Tec Outboards would be some I'd be studying up on as possible purchases.

I don't think I'd try the 15hp,just because of weight/size.
Heard good things about the 25-30hp though.

No it does not:) I do like it though...It's just does not have much hole shot.
Not to start a fight or anything...just wondering which 4 stroke compares better in that(25-30) hp range?

The Honda isn't much for hole shot either. The T/N/M has the most hole shot with Yamaha coming up second. Normally a 4-stroke is a dog compared to a 2-stroke, but the Evinrude is a lightweight in that respect. In every other respect it's equal to the T/N/M.

Re: E-Tec Motors

I guess I was just thinking, that seeing the etec is a 2 stroke, more cc's,about the same weight,it would be the fastest out the hole.
Looking at the drive it's physically bigger and can handle a bigger prop.
Hard for me to imagine that the 4 strokes out there right now can compete;with hole shot or top end...
Guess I'll keep reading,reveiws,forums,manuals,etc...
Theres a comparsion out there(2009)of 25hp 4 strokes but the etec wasn't in on it.It would be nice to see an independent reveiw with the 4 strokes and etec,in a 25-30 hp class.
