During the break in period of my recent rebuild above 3000 rpm it would be running along fine then "hiccup" for just a second then go back to running fine. It would only do this like every 10-20minutes or so. I thought bad gas. Well the "hiccup" got worse and i do not think it is gas any longer.
7/16 spark on all cylinders but one. New powerpack just installed and still no spark on one cylinder. DVA adapter on the way to test the peak voltage.

With the multimeter that I have can I test the input voltage to the powerpack. What voltage is this supposed to read?

Also I don't understand the issue of the kill switch circuit having trouble that I read a little bit about here. Can someone explain?
FYI Fatzbullet I would bring it to Mt. Juliet today

On that mtr if you have no spark on one cyl it could be the pack, coil or timer base. Have you tried swapping coils between a good cyl ?? To eliminate the kill switch and the boat wiring harness, disconnect the black/yellow wires from the packs. You'll need the DVA to check for any output voltages.

It is not the powerpack as it is brand new OEM. It could be the coil. If I knew the input voltage for the powerpack I could check there and tell if the coil or timer base is bad I think. That would tell if the problem is upstream or downstream.
FYI AutoZone has adjustable spark gap tester for ~$7.00.

brand new OEM doesnt mean you can rule out the power pack. i bought a new 1999 johnson 25.....it ran well for the first 15 minutes of new motor running.....then lost fire to a cyl, i assumed coil trouble.....but it was the power pack.

As said above there can be bad new parts. I've been screwed before by them. "Test, Don't Guess".

It was doing the problem before I put on the new power pack and doing the same symptom after the new power pack.

the cdielectronics.com troubleshooting chart should list the voltage, but I think it's a dva value as well....150V or greater?

Have you tried to swap the coils ??

Re: E100 WTLCRS no spark one cylinder

Had to come up with the pin extraction tool. Pulled black and yellow wire out of both power pack amphenol connectors, still no spark. Had some old coils the second one I tried had spark. You were right guys. Had to splice pin onto orange wire to go back into connection for coil. Do the newer coils with twin posts replace the type that have the orange wire with amphenol pin? And you just have a boot on one end of the orange wire and the other end gets the ampenol pin? These newer ones don't have the black wire either just a tab for the ground.

Your original coils are 582106 and do not supercede in the Bomardier parts master. I've replaced a number of them with the new dual post style (582508) which came out in the 1985 timeframe-they run the same.

Some I have seen include the new orange wire with boot installed on one end and amphenol pin on the other end? Also some have spark plug wires and both boots and spring clips included. Does this make it a different part number? example 584561?

dual post coil wire and boot information anyone? Does a kit make this a different part number? Orange wire with new boot and ampenol on the other end? DVA apater arrived today so I get voltage readings as needed.

Re: E100 WTLCRS no spark one cylinder

Ok new dual post coil, new boots/wire, new powerpak, DVA tester. Voltage reading during start on side that has weak spark(was dead spark with old coil) reads 320VDC on meter during starting at the brown/brown yellow wires coming into powerpack. So not stator/flywheel/trigger right. Spark is jumping 7/16 but not as bright as other 3. So now back to powerpak again?

at the cdielectronics troubleshooting site...read the portion on disconnecting the rectifier/voltage regulator during testing...also the values for the orange wires going to the coils at cranking speed and as the rpm's increase...read as well the use of an inductive timing light on the suspect ignition wire just before the miss occurs and during the miss
