I am going to replace worn, broken, and too long control cables on my E35ECSM. The outboard has been retrofitted into the boat and it has a two-lever remote control box which has "Simplex" written on it.
Now, I'm going to need a new lock pin for my shift cable as it had *bare wire cable* like Teleflex type 400 and a casing guide that broke free when I visited a machinist shop with the boat and left the outboard there to have threads for lower unit mounting bolts fixed. The throttle cable is definitely like Teleflex type 479 with fixed casing guide in the engine end and EPC shows also cables with fixed ends for 1980 remote control. (0173106 for 6') Now, the type 479 is listed for single lever use ... but it seems similar as the cables visible in EPC picture. Seloc manual also speaks about bare wire only when talking about a double lever control lox.
Now, is somebody able to confirm, or advise how to find out without opening the control box yet, what kind of cables I will need? It is also not impossible that the control box is not original for the engine. EPC also shows the cable type changing for double lever controls to 1979, but I do not spot any tell-tale difference on the older and "newer" box.
