E60ELCRE Lower unit seals

I did a complete lower unit reseal and new water pump. What I can't find is PN 305762. BRP online (ref # 17) has it listed as a gear case seal. Its a 1/4" tall foam ring. Didn't see it at all when I removed the lu. A forum search shows that it may go on the water pump, but old pump had exact same parts as the the new one. Is this an extra part to cover multiple years of lu's? Again '84 60 horse long shaft.

I think you are looking at the seal that goes near the top of the shift rod. in the exhaust housing. If you want one you should be able to get it from any dealership, or you can get the aftermarket part here: http://www.iboats.com/Johnson_Evinr...7352893--**********.724133435--view_id.461225

Ezeke,
I would assume it goes into the exaust housing before the grommet (ref #70)? If that's the case, I would assume that it plays very little into sealing against water intrusion into lu. I will inspect tonight.
