My 04 Explorer Sport Trac says it will run on E85 fuel. With gas prices going up again I'm interested in trying this. Does anyone know where to find E85 fuel, or how much it goes for?

I was curious about E85 and found this sight. It is informative but it doesn't answer your questions. E85

Goes for about 10 cents a gallon less than 87 octane around here. Be careful using that stuff. Read your owners manual about oil change intervals when using E85. They will need to be more frequent. I have also heard it will make your engine run hotter.

It isn't real easy to find around here, either. I guess time will tell if it's just a fad or not.

I don't know much about E85, but you'd probably get significantly worse gas mileage...making it more expensive than gasoline.

Re: E85 Fuel

Yours must be the Flex-Fuel engine. I have a Taurus with Flex-Fuel engine. Local Ford service manager says about 35-40% of the Tauruses (Tauri??) around here have Flex-Fuel engines but I don't know where 85% E-fuel is within 500 miles of here. We were both puzzled by why local dealers order and sell them. Maybe some kind of federal mandate?

Yep BoatBuoy it's the Flex-Fuel engine. I don't have any complaints about it so far. It runs strong and pulls the boat with out any trouble. I would like it to get better gas mileage.

Re: E85 Fuel

We have a gas station here that sells E85 and labels it Blue Planet Gasoline. My new suburban is a flex fuel although I don't live close enough to buy it..
