Eagle cuda 168 sonar locator

I have an eagle cuda 168 locator sounder that was given to me. I have no manuals and am not sure how to mount the pickup. I think it mounts below the water line with the flat surface down, but have never used or installed a locator any suggestions?

It needs to be installed so the lower surface is about 1/4 inch below the hull, on the starboard side of the boat, as far away from the prop as you can get, and NOT in line with any strakes or protrustions on the bottom of the boat that would cause turbulence. A locator will not work properly in aerated water.
