Hello to all, I recently purchased my second Eagle 320 sonar unit. The first one is installed on the center console of my boat and works great.
I want to install the second one up front on the casting deck so I can get rid of my sore neck from looking backwards. When I purchased it I was told I could purchase a switch box that would allow me to run both units (one at a time) off of the transducer on the transome. I have been looking for this box and have had no luck at finding it. LEI that builds the accessories for told me they do not make one for the 320 units that use the (UNI)plug connectors. Does anyone know who else may build switch boxes?
I guess I may have to build it myself. It does not look hard to do. I have never cut into a transducer cable but if the wires are different colors it should not be very hard to do a good job. The transducer I have is the 200Khz skimmer with the temp sensor. Any advise on what to expect would be welcomed. I have a single pole 4 throw switch that may work well or should I try to locate a rotory switch? Thanks Dan.

Dan
I would not cut your transducer cable. I would probably get a trollong motor transducer and mount it to the bottom of your trolling motor. Transducer probably cheaper than the switch anyway. It also gives you a second transducer should the back one fail. Other option would be to do a front shoot thru hull transducer if you have a type boat that supports it.

Even if you set on installing the switch I would not cut the coax. Call LEI back and ask if they have adapter cables that could adapt your current unit and transducer to a current switch. Check if a unit like the 320 that would work with the switch.

I would just mount the second transducer, iether on the transom, or on the trolling motor. A mounting bracket for the trolling motor runs between $6 and $10, depending on which one you get. I saw a generic mount today for $6.

I wanted to mount the transducer on the trolling motor but the motor I have is a Minn Kotta power drive, The one with the shaft that sides all the way through the gear box. If I mounted a cable on it it would have to hang loose on the outside of the shaft and would get hung on everything. The boat is a deep v hull with a self bailing floor. I cannot get the the bottom of the hull. I guess I could mount another transducer on the transom But I was hoping to do this without drilling any more holes in the transom. I did call LEI and they ofered to sell me $160 worth of parts in order to convert the connectors to something that will use the $30 switch they sell. Dan.
