Look at the top of this page for the sticky: step by step impeller change. Even though the instructions are for the one piece lower unit, your earlier two piece lower is very similar.
Only major difference is if you have a very early lower unit, then there will be a six inch long bolt inside the exhaust snout and you MUST use a 5/16 inch 12 point socket to remove it
