early 80's 35 evinrude wont start

Alright made it past the first problem with some help from some good people,now,cleaned carb,new plugs,gas,and battery.The spark is there,plugs are gettng wet,motor will fire for a second but then will die.Any thoughts,not sure the exact year of the motor,was told 83-84?

plugs are gettng wet, mis-adjusted float needle valve.

Motor will only run if choke is on and the throttle is cracked open,sometims it dies.blowing through gas line with carb iverted air will go through and turned right sde up the air will stop s I think the loat is working.I'm not a boat mechanic I fix a/c's so someone please help me.

Believe it or not, if it will only run with the choke out, you may have a stuck, or sunk, float.

I know it sounds backwards but that has been my experience.

If it is "backfiring" make sure you have the spark plug wires on right. Don't ask me how I know this.:redface:
