I have a 1993 30hp johnson and its not the easiest thing to get started. Its a pull start. The motor sat up for about three years after my dad passed before I aquired it. Last year, I put it in the shop for a grand total of $600 worth of repairs. I had the carb rebuilt, water pump and housing replaced, new ignition pack, and all the parts under the flywheel (not sure what they are called).

It takes a solid 7 or 8 pulls to crank. Even after it has been running for a while, it will take quite a bit to get started again. If I spray very little starting fluid in it, it cranks on the first pull?

Any ideas?????

Sounds to me like there is a fuel problem, choke may be out of adjustment or they didn't do a very good job on rebuilding that carb.

It's also not advised to spray starting fluid into a 2 stroke.
