Easiest way to register a used boat with no prev. registration.

I bought my larson tri-hull with no previous registration (there were #'s on the boat though) and a bill of sale. The numbers on the boat were KY and since I live in AL there was a big problem. So I looked and looked for a solution. I went to the courthouse and sat in line for 45 minutes (later found out that I was in the wrong line) and finally reached a person. I told the lady that the boat had not been previously registered and had belonged to me since new. She asked no questions and $16 later I had vaild registration. Tomorrow I will finally get to enjoy my boat!
