I had a 1998 fast strike rebuilt by east coast outboards. They picked the boat up in tennessee and took it to north carolina and worked on it. 3600.00 and supposedly a 5 year warrantee. When i called them to tell them the cylinder that they welded failed was when they quit answering the phone. Called from the wifes phone and they answered right away. They were supposed to send 50% of the money but i havent seen a penny and its been 2 months. Dont fall for this scam. I found out later that several folks had problems

It doesn't fill me with confidence to read
" no-one beats our prices" .... uh for repair work.?

The good rebuilders in New England don't go and pick up your boat, they're too busy doing what they do already. And I'm fairly certain they would not guarentee a cyl weld job....or even bother.
It strikes me more as a DIY job.
Now we know why.

They'll probably pay you but they need to save up first.

Yes it was and they put the cylinder to me ha ha seriously, i should have looked at the value of the motor before and after putting that much into it but i was counting on the warrantee being worth something. I bit the bullet and traded the rig in and got a z-7 nitro with an optimax. Its nice but i still sting a bit over the bad treatment

Well,I guess its all water under the bridge now.BUT,alot is in the wording of the contracts.New parts ,can be,new to the engine, meaning used,5 yr wattenty, come on.The manufacturer dont give that.So.If it has anything to do with 50/50 .That means your paying 50% of the current rate per hr and the RETAIL price of parts. The rest you can likely figure out, orit could actually cost you more second time around.ESPECIALLY IF THEY GOT YOUR STUFF.

I guess i was lucky to escape with my boat. Women and outboards could be the downfall of all of us. As least i was lucky with the wife. Any major leaguer would be happy to bat 500

OMC had problems back in those days with water getting into # 1 cyl. Turns out after about 250 hrs the block would leak water into # 1. The block was actually porrous. The best thing to do with the block was junk it.
