easyest way to remove 115 rude

ok heres the deal. i got a crack in my transom and i need 2 repair it i gotta get the motor off so i can do that so far ive unhooked all the cables and wires and losend the motor so its ready 2 come off but i realy dont know how much it wieghts and i didnt have anyone over 2 help me at the time so my ? is how much dose it wiegh ( 1982 115 RUDE) whats the easyest way to lift it off without a cherry picker. oh yeah and would it be ok 2 lay it on its side well im working on the transom? any opinions will help

Your engine weighs 300# give or take.Best case is to have an overhead beam and lift the engine by its lifting eye and left in the vertical position during the transom job.I suppose it could be layed on its side without harm but if it were mine ,I'd store it vertically until the job is complete.

I would invite all my friends for a BBQ and then let them help you lift it ..... you should try and keep it upright, if you don't have anything to put it onto, you can try and position it in a corner in your garage or something ...

aquanuts, get off the $20.00 to rent a cherry picker, you will be glad you did. the motor is awkward, no handles, slippery and will break a leg in a second. be safe, not foolish. if youstand it in the corner be sure to secure it with some rope. just standing in the corner they sometimes decide to fall, and damage you, the kids, not to metion the engine.
