Edelbrock 1409 carb finish

I recently put a new Edelbrock carb on a mercruser repower engine. Can anyone offer feedback as to how well the factory plating on the carb will hold up in a marine environment? Should I consider painting it like mercruiser does? And if I paint it do I need a zinc primer like other aluminum applications ? Thanks

Upstate NY Cayuga Lake, by sweet water I assume you mean fresh? I don't think you can find water that is nicer on a boat than this...

Just trying to bump this back up. Was hoping someone could share their experince with longevity of the factory edelbrock finish. Thanks for your help
