I'm sure you are aware of this but maybe others are not.
A recall of jeep liberties from 2002 - 2006 has just been made.
Ball Joints may fall apart!
Just heard about it about 4 hours ago.

Re: EE Jeep Recall

The transmission was supposed to fall out of my '02 Ram pickup... At least, there was a recall on them. Not a minute's trouble, and towing whatever I wanted to. However, there was no recall for the dashboard that cracked all over the place last month. And ftom what I have learned peckin the web, it's a common problem for 99-03 rams. Hmm.

I don't think EE has a Liberty... I believe he has a Wrangler.

Re: EE Jeep Recall

Actually, I have a Grand Cherokee :D But many thanks to everyone for their concern!!

Although, after many years of convincing... my Mother in law bought a liberty last year. So, she'll have to be bringing it in. Honesetly though, she has had 0 problems with it and has been very happy with it. Was going to buy a Ford Escape, but I said that if she ever wanted to see her daughter again she better think twice about that decision :D:devil:

Hey... Watch it! My Escape has been great. Just normal issues, like with any car.

:D Nothing against your Escape..... but when my wife married into my family, she and her family forgave the right to purchase anything but Jeep

Re: EE Jeep Recall

The Libertys have had certain years recalled already for the front lower ball joints. The new recall just extends to all years of Liberty. The ball joints collect dirt and water and wear very quickly. The previous recall was an inspect and replace if necessary type deal and a heat shield was clipped on around the ball joint whether it was replaced or not. The ball joint has never been redesigned or upgraded from '02-'06 and the replacements are exactly the same part as the original.

There is a much heavier lower ball joint available from Moog Chassis Parts (Moog K3199) that is greasable through a zerk and does not allow water and dirt to become trapped inside the unit. The Liberty modders (yes there are plenty) are installing this part and skipping the recalls in order to have a more robust front end, especially important when lifts come into the picture.
