eighty six johnson twenty five hp-low speed it bogs

I replaced fuel lines to the primer pump and bought some carb cleaner-I've sprayed some and will continue. New plugs gapped at forty thousand. New fuel line and bulb from tank to engine. Engine runs a little rough at idle and seems doggy-but doesn't die-it clears up and runs good about a third or half into throttle. Starts easy etc. Just like to get it to run that good at low speeds. Any suggestions? Thanks

First of all, welcome to iboats. Sounds like you need to take your carb off and clean it well. You will want to soak it in carb cleaner and use some compressed air to clean all the jets out, especially your low speed jet. Sounds like this might be the one that is causing you problems. While you are in there go ahead and put a rebuild kit in it. They cost around 20 bucks from the dealer. Make sure that all passages are clean. If you have fixed jets on that engine then this should help you if not then you will want to reset your idle in a barrel of water or on the water. Do a search for setting idle and you will find a great thread from Joe Reeves on this topic.
