Elec or fuel prob?

1988 Mariner 30 HP ELO

This has happend 5 or 6 times now and always on cooler, wetter mornings. I no more than start her up and get 20 feet from the launch then it just dies. It doesnt slowly die or sputter, it dies as if i flipped the switch to off. It then wont refire for a few hours and when it does it runs rough for a few minutes before it runs good again. I wanna say for the cool/wet factor that its electrical, but what should I check or replace? Coil?

Next time it does that, check for spark. If no spark, you can disconnect the lanyard switch and/or the stop button to see if either of those are causing your problem.

I'll keep a spark tester with me from now on and check next time it happens. There is no lanyard or switch, just the elec start w/ key.
