elec shock

Took my Johnson 150 for a test run today, seemed to run decent.

Then I started getting elec shocks from the steering wheel and throttle control.

It didn't seem to affect the way it ran.
Any clues as to where I can look to trace this down?

Re: elec shock

That's often related to kill switch wires shorting to something. There's a pretty good voltage on them. Check your ignition switch wiring. I'm betting that one of the kill wires is disconnected and touching something on the console, or has it's insulation rubbed off and touching something on the console. Should be an easy fix.

Yeh, I put a meter between throttle and steering wheel and the meter pegged, checked cables then saw the ignition switch had twisted in the housing, I twisted it back and the meter went back to zero.

Re: elec shock

Try ohming out the black wire between the controls and the motor - I did and got nothing - broken ground wire in cable - fixed it and shocks went away :D
