Hi, Im new to iboats and am looking for help with my boat. I am installing a new 4.3 in my boat as the boat had a bad motor when I bought it. The new motor came with an electric fuel pump and the old motor had a mechanical fuel pump.I would install a mechanical but there is no hole in the block for the pump arm. The electric pump that came with the motor is cylindrical and about 4 inches tall and has 2 wires coming out of it. I dont want to hook it up to a toggle switch, I want to hook it up so it shuts off if the motor kills for saftey. Could anyone tell me the proper way to hook up this pump so it is safe ? Its a 1990 stratos open bow and in awesome condition, Thanks in advance for your help. zark72

I'd start by looking at the Adults only Sticky for wiring diagrams with electrick fuel pumps and carbs. I would imagine its tied into the oil pressure switch (youll need a "T", one to the guage one to the switch) and the start side of the ignition switch, it will only run when you have oil pressure or are starting it.

You also need a start bypass circuit since the pump won't run until you have oil pressure.
