Is there a way to byepass this on a 40 hp Johnson? It is broke on the control . Can I use just the manual on the motor? I get gas all the way to the carb right now but not through it. The electric choke is not hooked up. New to boating please help.

Re: electric choke

Your questioin does not make sense. There is no electric choke on a RKL-25D. It has a hot water heated automatic choke. They never did work worth a hoot even when new. Most everybody hand chokes them. Open the door on the front of the motor and you will see a brass choke lever. Pull it all the way forward to choke for a cold start, then push it all the way back to run. Center position is for automatic if you want to try it.

Now about that control: It has no choke on the control to break. If you are speaking of the red lever at the rear, that is a fast idle lever to give it a little throttle without putting it in gear. It also sets the desired idle speed. Kind of a pain in the butt if you don't fix it. They still make the red lever gizmo.
