I searched other posts and found no hits. My 1988 100hp Mercury oil injection motor is a gem. I rebuilt the mechanical fuel pump (twice, following the directions to the T), and don't trust the rebuild. A new or reconditioned (China?) one is $$$. To solve what seems to be a fuel supply problem, I'm considering an electric fuel pump. My quandary is the mechanical fuel pump seems to be tied into the oil injection system. Somehow the pulses from the engine to the mechanical fuel pump regulate how much oil to mix with the gas. And I'm not too wild about eliminating oil injection and going totally premix. I have a 20 gallon on-board tank. So, the question is, "Is an electric fuel pump out of the question on my oil injected motor because of the inseparability of the mechanical fuel pump and the oil injection system?" If it isn't impossible or nearly so, how to do it and salvage the oil injection system?
