Hey guys and girls, I have a1987 with a omc 4.3 and have oil in the clear line that runs from the pump to carb. Question is should I convert to electric or stick with mechanical and what's a good reliable electric pump to go with if I go that route?

Stick with mechanical. Its $49, vs electric pump, oil pressure switch and relay which will cost you $100

I'm in Canada and mechanical fuel pumps are much more expensive then $49. Where can I order and pump at that price if you don't mind me asking.

This is a Carter mechanical fuel pump that can be bought from Jegs or Summit racing. Sierra sells a version of it which will work fine as well. I would stick with the mechanical they are simple and not prone to electrical failures that happen often on boats. With the electric you need the oil pressure cut off switch and wiring. The last mechanical pump I replaced lasted 30 years! And yours is an ‘87 that’s 33 years old!

I installed the Sierra one referenced in my boat about a year and a half ago because I could not locate an original Carter and later on bought the original Carter as a back up the number for it is Carter M60201....

one time when OE (Carter) is actually cheaper than the aftermarket (Sierra)!
