electric start 72 johnson 25

i have a 1972 johnson 25hp. i may be able to get my hands on an older 33hp johnson (early 60's)? would i be able to put the electric starter from the 33 onto the 25? is there anything i should check for to see if it would fit? thanks<br />tim

Sorry, I cannot help but there are several guys on this sight who KNOW OMC products. One in particular is a guy named Joe_Reeves. Hopefully he will see this post and be able to give an informed experienced answer.

Tim I think you'll find the earlier engine bracket won't work on your 72 engine. Thats the bad news. The good news is that there are a lot of<br />brackets for the 25 hp that will fit in a big year range from 72 thru 80, all but the 1976 engine will work. That year almost all the parts are different in the 25 HP!Includeing the screws that hold the name plate on! Also the fly wheel on your engine has to match the gears on the starter. hope this helps a little.<br />steve
