Does anyone out there have an idea whether an electric starter can be added on to a mid 70's 7.5 Mercury and how hard and expensive it would be ?

Thanks....

In the mid 70s merc had a kit for some 7.5 and 10 hp engines but it's been NLA for 25 years

Re: Electric Starter Add-ON

Perkdp, I just did that conversion on a 1992 9.9 Evinrude. Took me 6 months to find the right parts that I could afford but I got it done. It cost me about $350 in all but like I say I shopped around. Not very complicated once I had all the parts. Needed a new flywheel, intake bypass cover, starter motor, ignition button, neutral start switch and cables. The hardest part was locating a flywheel. Not many out there with electric start. Good luck to you on you project.

Thanks RodC.
I had stuck in my head that I just needed a starter and bracket. Never thought about the flywheel being different, saftey switches, starter button, etc....
