Hey guys,
So I am not sure if I should post this in the electric problem area, but I decided since this is an Engine / outdrive related issue, I would start here.
So this is officially my second or third boat.
its a 19 foot, Edson Challenger circa 1987-1990 (I think)
I bought it as a project and put an engine in it. and Today it roared to life
and then died just as fast.
Knowing this to be a fuel issue, I looked for the throttle release button so I could keep the outdrive in neutal, but rev up the throttle.
And this is where the fun begins!!!
On a passing note, I removed the throttle cable and started the engine and rev'ed it up a bit and it runs like a charm.
On every engine I have ever seen, there is usually a button you push that allows the drive to stay in neutral and the throttle to be increased.
Except on this boat, which seems to have one, but I cant figure out how it works.
- On the left side of the throttle, there is a Tilt UP and a down. (see pictures)
- On the right side of the throttle, there is a Fwd, Neutral, Rev.
Near as I can tell, these are electric switches similar to the tilt.
now I will mention that currently the trim pump is not powered, I have the outdrive off, and I didn't want the pistons moving around. but while I am writing this up, I wondered if it needs to be powered for the
so, Does anyone have something like this and can explain to me if there is a trick to getting the throttle to release so I can start the engine?
since this is a new boat to me, and the company defunct, I was wondering if its powered? powered by the tilt motor? powered by something else?
I would appreciate some help in this please and thanks.
