i was wondering if anyone has experience with electric trollong motors. i have a 25' hydrasport which i use locally off long island. there are many times when im drifting too slow-fast that i would like to compensate. would a electric trolling motor help me and how much thrust would i need. the loaded weight of my hull and motors is about 5000 lbs and it is a deep vee??

I doubt that even a 74lb electric would do you much good, CK.

In your position I would investigate a large drift sock and/or a small kicker in the 9.9 to 15HP range.

Good luck. :)

Where there's a will there's a way. Check these out:

http://www.cabelas.com/

click Marine, Electric Trolling Motors, Navigator. They have units for boats up to 8,000 lb.
