well i'm bedding in my floor tomorrow so its time to start thinking further ahead. i still have a bikini top from my jeep wrangler that i sold about a year or so ago. and now i want to use it to make a top for my boat. i was thinking of using metal electrical conduit as the framing. what are your thoughts?

Re: electrical conduit as framing

EZ,

I used conduit last year to convert the boat cover I'm using into a top of sorts for my Crestliner Aluminum. The conduit worked great. The top was great for providing shade and shelter from rain. It sucked for fishing. The whole thing looked kinda cool. Sorta like an old Amazon boat. When I was done with the boat, I just unsnapped the cover from the conduit and re-covered the boat for travel. Worked pretty well! If I still had it set up on the boat I'd provide pics.

That's my exact plan. There are several places on the net where you can buy all the ends and fittings to build a bimini out of conduit. It also doesn't hurt that my best friend is a skilled electrician w/ every bender imaginable.:D
