Hey guys, I've recently been tinkering with a 76 200hp..
Had spark one day, gone the next, on all 6 cylinders.

Decided to swap all the ignition system with ones off a blown johnson 175, that I had laying around and knew were recently working,

Still no spark.. Leads me thinking that a kill switch in the control box could be the culprit.
Also, I can't find in the manual, where the Purple wire from the control box goes on the engine, and the grey from the control box to nowhere? These were like this on the other engine as I removed everything from the stator to coils in one piece, and been over it with a fine tooth comb and these are the only things that seemed out of place.

Just want to know what these do and where they belong before I go pulling the controls to pieces.
Any help greatly appreciated.. Cheers, Greg.

purple is choke. black/yellow is kill wire. to rule out the control, unplug the big red harness plug. now, jump the starter solenoid, and see if you have spark. if you now have spark, the problem is from the plug to the control. usually ignition switch.

thanks td, still nothing after pulling the red plug.. rules that out then..

everything is as it should be, to the diagrams in my manual. i am just confused why the same problem has appeared with two sets of electrics.

i just changed flywheels over to make sure that wasn't doing it.. still nothing.
