Electrical - Need To Poke Holes In Stucco

I need to run some wires from outside the house to inside the house. Outside the house the wire is in either 1/2-in or 3/4-in rigid conduit. What’s the norm for getting the wires inside the house? I was thinking of poking a hole thru the wall and sticking the conduit thru, then seal around it with caulking. Not sure how to poke that big of a hole in stucco; with a big masonry drill bit?!?

I would start by drilling a small hole, drill from the outside-in, then progress to larger bits. I'm a$$uming the stucco is on the outside....

That's how it's done. Masonry hole saw would be the my first choice.

Once through the succo I would think a wood bit would work fine. If you are going through with rigid conduit you have a few options... make sure you have a outside drip loop in the wire if you are just passing a wire through and seal the heck out of the conduit to prevent bugs and water.

Keep in mind that most stucco has wire mesh in it as you penetrate it.

Re: Electrical - Need To Poke Holes In Stucco

Thanks, guys. We have a break in the rain so I can try and finish installing the surveillance system. I just have low voltage power and a coax (video) to run from a camera housing to the inside of my house. Unfortunately this is an eve-less house, so no soffit to conveniently run the wires into/thru. I need to run them down low, thru a cripple wall below floor level. Hence the conduit.

Just be carefull not to hit any other eletrical wires {plumbing} that may be running in the walls your drilling threw.
